Resource Development Coordinator


The Resource Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the annual fundraising and communications goals of DevNW. The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing and/or fundraising for a non-profit organization with proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with strong time-management skills to coordinate and support our expanding R&D team. This is an ideal position for someone who understands the significance fundraising and public relations/communications efforts have on the operation of a nonprofit community development agency. The position is full-time and reports to the Senior Grant Writer.

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities:

The Resource Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting and growing the scope of DevNW fundraising and direct communications with our donors, supporters, advocates, and clients. The position will directly support grants management and includes funder research, and writing proposals and reports to foundation and business supporters. The position is also responsible for supporting strategies that increase DevNW visibility to diverse local, state and national audiences, including through writing and creating marketing and communications materials, and website updates and social media postings. Finally, this position supports the administrative activities of the Resource Development Team including data entry, donor/grant tracking, mailing activities, and donation acknowledgement.

Grants (60%):

  • Understand the funding needs of DevNW
  • Conduct grant and sponsorship research, qualifying potential funding opportunities
  • Gather and present accurate information about existing and potential funders
  • Maintain grant calendar ensuring deadlines are met and submissions tracked
  • Write effective routine grant proposals and grant reports based on grantor priorities and requirements
  • Prepare relevant documentation including budgets for grant proposals, coordinating with program and finance staff to ensure required information and materials are requested and provided in a timely manner
  • Track grant awards and contracts in database and maintain organized paper and/or electronic grant files
  • Maintain scanned contracts folder ensuring solid coordination with finance
  • Fulfill sponsorship recognition and benefits, including communications such as social media and press releases, collateral development when needed and website updates

Communications (20%):

  • Manage email distribution via Mail Chimp and Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Support strategies that increase DevNW visibility to diverse local, state and national audiences and strengthen internal communication systems
  • Create and maintain the organization’s annual content calendar, working closely with resource development and program staff to identify, plan and draft communications content for various print and digital media
  • Contribute to the writing, design, development and dissemination of high quality materials/collateral, ensuring style and branding compliance (e.g. organization newsletters, annual reports, blog)
  • Manage online presence including search engine optimization (SEO) and develop Google Analytics and Google AdWords strategies
  • Contribute to the development of a social media channels and strategy, including writing and posting to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Maintain DevNW’s website and blog, soliciting creative content from staff
  • Maintain photos and quotes for use in various digital content

Individual Giving (20%):

  • Collaborate with the Senior Grant Writer to develop and monitor the annual development calendar to ensure year-round engagement and stewardship of individual donors
  • Manage and update the donor database, performing data entry and conforming to/contributing to database policies and procedures to ensure high quality data
  • Process donations, generate and track tax-receipts and acknowledgement letters
  • Maintain and generate donor mailing lists, prepare appeal mailing materials and coordinate mailing parties when necessary
  • Support events, planning and managing logistical details including volunteer coordination, invitations, and vendor contact


  • Understanding of and belief in the organization’s mission, vision and values

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort in fundraising and soliciting donations (Bachelor’s Degree or higher and 4+ years of prior experience with community development and/or nonprofit development preferred)
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to managing time-sensitive and often competing workloads and deadlines
  • Exceptional communicator with an eye for written, oral and visual communication (grant writing experience, design or marketing experience, ability to use design software preferred)
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • High level of comfort dealing with various groups of people (i.e. donors, foundation representatives, business executives, volunteers, clients and residents, general public)
  • Highly skilled in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook (experience with databases and other electronic tracking systems a plus)
  • Enthusiastic self-starter operating with energy and showing great initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team, including willingness to work outside of one’s primary responsibilities
  • High degree of analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and conform/contribute to department standards and policies

Other requirements include:

  • Must have a valid and current Driver’s license and be fully insurable by our insurance provider to operate company vehicle for business purposes. Those who are not fully insurable, may be able to use own personal vehicle with current auto insurance coverage while on company business on a case by case basis.
  • Completing a criminal background check prior to being hired, the results of which are satisfactory to the employer.

COVID – 19 Emergency Response:

  • All DevNW offices are closed until June 2021. All staff are required to maintain a safe work environment from home, until offices open again. Familiarity with virtual tools such as Google Drive and Zoom to share resources virtually as a team, is essential.
